people in tropical cities can only tell the change of seasons from boutiques' advertisements that read: 'spring coat, in vogue', 'summer sale', 'fall/winter wear, all must go', etc.

an angel at the dining table

towards the seventh month.

fumizuki is a special name for the seventh lunar month. the name is originated from the custom to write wishes and hopes on long strips of colorful papers and hang them on trees as decorations. this is part of the celebration of tanabata, the seventh twilight. [link]

kinboshi, the golden star award is for the sumo fighter who managed to defeat the defending champion.
many haijin has come together and contributed so many beautiful images and verses these two months. all of you, too, are worthy of some kind of a 'golden star award'. thank you very much!

the haiku featured are marked feline in characteristics- the love of wandering and staring at the sky for apparently no reason at all.
the season has stealthily changed to autumn with the appearance of ama no gawa, the milky way, an autumn kigo.

telling tales of the seventh twilight-
an electronic haiku journal.

the seventh twilight, tanabata is a festival celebrated in the seventh day of the seventh month of lunar calendar.
it is based on the love story of 七夕, Qī Xī, (originated from chinese mythology) in which Altair, known as Hikoboshi (彦星, English: Cow Herder Star) and his two children, β and γ Aquilae, are separated from their mother, shokujo (織女, English: Weaver Girl), the star Vega, by the Milky Way. They are only permitted to meet once a year, when the Milky Way is crossed by a bridge of magpies.

hasu, the lotus, is a summer kigo.

a crinkled haiku memo on napkin-
cuckoo in blue.

shiki, the haiku master, is nicknamed 'cuckoo'. (cuckoo is a summer kigo.) in the final stage of his tuberculosis, he claimed that he would continue to make statements like a cuckoo bird till he puked his last drop of blood.
the connections of cuckoo/shiki/puke blood/napkin is sad, but the aspiration of this great haijin is inspiring.
